I really need to get motivated to do this again. I had great plans for June and then got distracted. We are in the process of refinancing the house to save money. We will be putting more down and paying all the fees plus taking it to a ten year from the 16 years we had left on the 30 if we get it approved. With that and the fact that we always have money to save at the end of the month I have just been very lazy about budgeting.

What a concise article! My husband and I have been on a budget for two months now and while it seems formidable at times, there are some wonderful benefits as well. Our only debt at the moment is on our house and we hope to pay it off in the next 10 years or so. We have been scrimping, saving, and cutting costs anywhere that we can. My thoughts are “short term pain, long term peace and success”. Thank you for the encouragement.

Budgeting is vital – I’ll bet that even rich people budget, that’s how they stay rich. Of course, it’s all a matter of scale and whatever clever budgetting tools you use and however many lists you make there are only two things which count when making a budget : (1) be realistic and (2) stick to your budget.
